airlink cancels flights to kruger mpumalanga international airport
JOHANNESBURG – Airlink, the Southern African regional airline, wishes to apologize to its customers who were inconvenienced by flight cancellations on 26 January due to the unserviceable navigational aids at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA).
“Regrettably the airports navigational aids were rendered unserviceable during a storm on 25 January. Without the navigational aids, and in view of the no visibility conditions which prevailed at KMIA today due to adverse meteorological conditions, none of Airlink’s flights from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town could approach the airport resulting in the cancellations,” explained Airlink CEO, Rodger Foster.
Airlink expects that the management of KMIA will have the beacons repaired during the day and that services will return to normal by tomorrow.
All passengers that have had their travel plans disrupted due to the failure of the navigational aids will be re-accommodated on the next available Airlink flight.
“I want to thank our loyal customers for their continued support and apologize sincerely for any inconvenience caused by today’s disruptions which were completely out of Airlink’s hands,” he added.
Airlink serves 25 destinations in 7 countries with over 3,300 flights a month.
