COMPANY: S A AIRLINK (PTY) LTD.
JOB TITLE: RAMP CONTROLLER
DIVISION: JNB BRANCH
LOCATION: O R TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Key Activities :
1. Overseeing O R Tambo International Airport flights in accordance with the flight handling roster as scheduled and administered by the Ramp Supervisor.
2. Ensuring that all Airlink ground support vehicles, e.g. ground power units, are fuelled.
3. Ensuring that water-methanol stocks are replenished and are available for use for the Airlink fleet of Jetstream 41 aircraft.
4. Establishing ETAs and ETDs of flights from Flight Despatch, confirming the serviceability of aircraft and the parking bay allocation.
5. Facilitating boarding of flights in accordance with the Green Light policy, i.e. boarding, loading of flight to continue unless otherwise instructed.
6. Will assist with any additional tasks.
7. Will attend training as and when instructed to do so.
8. Responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.

Note:
Should the Red Light instruction be given, boarding and / or loading of the aircraft will be suspended until the Green Light is given.

9. Advising all concerned parties to react accordingly when an inbound flight into O R Tambo International Airport is delayed.
10. Ensuring that the aircraft marshaller, passenger bus(ses), catering company, aircraft cleaners, aircraft loading staff and refueller are positioned at the parking bay for aircraft arrivals.
11. Confirming that all Airlink ramp support equipment is positioned at the relevant aircraft parking bay in anticipation of a flight arrival, such as the Skycheck baggage trolley(s), aircraft chocks and access stairs.
12. Ensuring that all relevant safety requirements with regard to personnel and ground support equipment (GSE) are adhered to within the aircraft manoeuvering area.
13. Monitoring the onloading / offloading of all baggage, including the Skycheck hand baggage and the hold baggage.
14. Offering assistance to passengers who may require it in the absence of the contracted ground handling company.
15. Maintaining effective communication and close cooperation between the Airlink Flight Operations and Engineering Departments.
16. Ensuring all aircraft are loaded in accordance with the Load Instruction Report (LIR), signing the final LIR concurrent with the load distribution and forwarding this to the Captain.
17. Ensuring the safety of Airlink passengers, personnel and equipment by complying with Dangerous Goods Regulations and the Airlink Ramp Procedures Manual (GRH Volume A).
18. Noting and recording relevant details and reasons for delayed Airlink flights out of O R Tambo International Airport.

NOTE:
One Ramp Controller per shift will be assigned as the Nominated Deputy to the Ramp Supervisor for that shift. The Nominated Deputy so assigned is required to assume the duties of the Ramp Supervisor in his / her absence.

To Whom This Position Reports To: The Ramp Controller reports to the assigned Ramp
Supervisor, as determined by the Ramp duty roster.

Key Requirements:
1. The minimum education requirement is a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
2. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
3. Basic computer literacy is an advantage.
4. Must have knowledge of the Phonetic Alphabet.
5. Must conform to medical requirements for the issuance of an AVOP.
6. Must have a valid Driver’s Licence.
7. A Code 10 (or higher) Driver’s Licence is an advantage.
8. Must be able to maintain communication via a handheld radio.
9. Apron and/or aircraft technical experience is an advantage.
